Gus Leger

Gus has an extensive sporting background both as a player and recently as a coach. Gus is presently involved in education and brings a wealth of knowledge from his softball and rugby backgrounds as well as being a respected ambassador for both codes.

  • Professional Minor league Baseball contract with the California Angels 1995-1993
  • Pukekohe premiere club rugby “back to back” Champions. Undefeated for 24 competition games 2005-2006

Dean Rice

Dean is a respected ‘past’ player and now coach within the world softball fraternity. Dean was well known for his work ethic and attention to detail whilst a player and he brings these same values with him to his current coaching position with the New Zealand White Sox. Dean is renowned for his knowledge and skills with regards to all aspects of the ‘short game’ and would be one of the worlds leading authorities and exponents of this ‘game’, especially the offensive side.

Dean has been a self employed Personal Trainer for the past 10 years and regards the physical development of the person as paramount when wanting to further their overall potential as a player.

Steve Roberts

As a respected softball/baseball coach with several years in the college and professional base ball (MLB) scene in the USA,   Steve is a specialist 'Hitting' coach with many years of developing and working with athletes right across the board.   Steve is at present working on introducing Testing Protocols to different sports in New Zealand and 3rd base are excited to be working alongside Steve to develop these programmes.

Steve Jackson

Steve has had an extensive softball career culminating in being part of the Blacksox for a 15 year period.   Steve’s knowledge and experience as a top international pitcher has seen him involved in the coaching teams of several Olympic countries as a pitching coach/advisor.    It is this wealth of knowledge that sees Steve as a valuable member of our coaching programme.
